ReplyDeleteIt sounds a long time, since 1988, but it is not really. This is because i can remember all the brides and grooms whose wedding I have photographed and organized. We started it at the Registrar's office above Cosy Tearoom on Nkrumah road where TSS Towers stands today. Later we realized that there were more interesting ways to do a wedding for tourist who traveled all the way from Europe to enjoy something African/Kenyan.Fort Jesus was the next attraction. We would collect couples from hotels and drive them to Fort Jesus for a simple ceremony and take them back to the hotel to cur their wedding cake. After some time we requested the Registrar,then a Mr Richu, to allow us to decorate hotel lawns for the wedding ceremonies. He accepted and then we could now transport the Registrar to hotels and back to his office. This turned out to be the best option then and all was a wash with wedding requests from Travel agents, mostly UK ones. We could then do only up to three weddings in a month and that was quite a number given the fact that we were all at the teething stage. Pages have turned and here we are with more than thirty weddings in a month. Wedding locations have expanded to all hotels in the north and south coasts. We do so many weddings too in Tsavo East and West. More beautiful wedding venues are now all over the place and these include, Jahazi Marine- flowerboat, Nguuni Animal Sanctuary, Lamarina Sunset Boat and many others. Your wedding in Kenya cannot compare to any other. It is great.
